New World regions are mostly located in regions with relatively minor climate changes resulting in fewer vintage variations. Homogenity makes it easier to recognise wines from the New World, but many wine drinkers are of the opinion that this has come at the cost of less interesting wine.Moreover, critics state that New World producers lack the knowledge of what grapes will perform best in a given piece of ground - as they do not have time behind them. Unlike the Old World producers who over centuries have worked out which grapes to plant, and how to farm them.
However, New World producers have been able to bridge this gap with technology - ranging from an in depth knowledge of wine chemistry, advanced irrigation systems, sometimes heavy reliance on oak aging and adding various natural compounds to the wine.
As a result, today, New World wines are just as famous and in demand as Old World wines...
